Check the Art class webpage to view the PowerPoint slideshow of Cityscapes ranging from Paris to Chicago! There was a wide range of perspectives, tones, time periods, seasons, moods and more!
Kindergarten
Kindergarten students enjoy a longer class period, and so kindergarteners learned about warm and cool colors after the presentation to create a Berenice Abbott-inspired cityscape of their own! The warm colors were used to create glowing windows like "New York at Night," but in color!
This student created an expansive 3-D cityscape with a moat extending off the page!
This kindergarten friend also created a castle that reflects a good deal of symmetry.
This kindergarten friend started the 3-D trend in the classroom! Very creative!
Three generations of artists in one classroom!
Here is a beautiful, layered artwork that one classroom volunteer described as "very impressionistic"!
Below, view some of our recently completed Kandinsky trees. I love how students' trees are all so different!
Below, see some 3-D elements accomplished through folding.
First through eighth grades did a great job in discussion, as well! Students in 3rd and 4th grade enjoyed viewing negatives, thanks to Mrs. Cote, who brought in these foreign objects! Students also enjoyed looking closely at the image of the stock exchange on the SMART Board.

Below, see a photo that 5th Grade thought would be quite humorous. Can you tell why?
Great job, students! Next week we will make creative cityscapes with all kinds of media imaginable, from tape to cardboard to aluminum foil and more! Check back soon for photo updates.
